The Jinan Jiluo Road Crossing the Yellow River Tunnel North Extension Project will intersect Queshan reservoir, which currently supplies 60% of domestic water in City. During excavation process large-diameter slurry type shield used this project, it may lead to fracturing stratum front face and blow-out from surface if support pressure is too high. leakage pollute reservoir water, safety be threatened. Shield also inrush accidents. It difficult prevent during shallow tunnel construction due an insufficient understanding mechanism. initiation extension are very complex observe stratum. Currently, there no effective method study mechanism tunneling. This paper presents a numerical simulation tunneling based on extended finite element (XFEM). risk crossing engineering analyzed. advantages XFEM for simulating crack propagation fully exploited. Considering coexistence tensile shear failures soft soils, embedding combined failure criterion realized by secondary development ABAQUS element. Compared with test blind-hole clay samples, rationality cohesive soil verified. Through establishment model, layer simulated. variation law fracture studied, influence pressure, overburden thickness, formation strength, viscosity path Based method, analyzed intersecting Reservoir Project.
